Welcome to the North West Multiple Birth Club Inc (NWMBC).
We are a non-profit support group for families of multiples (twins, triplets and more), providing mutual support, information and social activities.
NWMBC was established in 1974 as Tullamarine & District Parents of Twins Club, by mothers who advertised in the local paper for other families of multiples to share and support each other while raising their children. Initial activities included monthly supper meetings at member's homes, ‘casserole banks’ for new families and occasional guest speakers.
In 1999, North West Multiple Birth Club Inc was registered as an incorporated association and currently has 70 member families. The club covers the north-west region of Melbourne and is run by volunteer members. The club provides services to members such as playgroup, new parent coffee mornings, information sessions and social events; and is affiliated with the Australian Multiple Birth Association (AMBA). Members have access to all AMBA services such as special needs, higher order multiples and sole parent registers.
The aims of the North West Multiple Birth Club Inc are:
« To provide a means of communication for sharing information on the care and raising of multiple birth children.
« To be a support group, cooperating with other community groups, to offer consistent support to multiple birth families.
« To increase awareness of the special needs of multiple birth families and improve the resources available to them.
« To publish any documents that promote the aims of the club.
« To be a non-commercial, non-sectarian and non-profit organisation.
